THEY DREAM OF SHAPELESS BODIES

2021 – 2022

"I feel like I define They Dream of Shapeless bodies as so many things. Especially depending on who I'm talking to. Sometimes it's a bizarre idiosyncratic video game. Sometimes it's a nonlinear interactive story. Sometimes it's digital art. Now of course, They Dream of Shapeless bodies is all of those things but to me, personally, it feels like a sort of elegy to and for myself. Or at least myself at the time of making the project because I used it as a way to work through a lot of discomfort I was having in figuring out my relationship to my body, my gender and my sexuality. It's the first personal project I’ve ever made which is probably why I have a hard time labeling it as one thing. But ultimately, I feel like a descriptor that I do feel comfortable using when referring to it is a time capsule. They Dream of Shapeless Bodies is a time capsule." – Temitope Olujobi

Exhibited at the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural Genealogy Center in Austin Texas.
